7 Ways We are Making Your Therapy Visits Safe

Ochsner Therapy & Wellness is getting back to business to help patients return to the activities they love. Because of worries over the COVID-19 pandemic, we understand that patients may have hesitations: Should you stay home and potentially allow pain or physical limitation to linger, or should you continue with the therapy treatment that will help you function and feel better? Please know that we are committed to giving patients the ability to continue therapy sessions in the safest way possible. It is so important to commit to your therapy plan of care not only for your recovery, but for your overall health. Now, more than ever, it’s important to make your overall health and well-being a priority.

Here are a few of the many ways our team is committed to keeping patients safe during visits:

1. Personal appointments for patients

The Ochsner therapy team is spreading out appointments. This prevents crowded spaces within all areas of our clinics. By reducing the number of people who come in at the same time, we are maintaining social distancing between patients and staff. This way, you can focus on your session with your therapist and you get your therapist all to yourself.

2. Social distancing in waiting rooms and treatment areas

Everyone is required to practice social distancing. This keeps people safe by reducing contact with anyone potentially carrying the virus. It is possible for people who are not feeling bad to spread germs to others. Social distancing is an extra step we are taking to keep everyone safe.

3. Masks for all

Everyone must wear a mask inside of our clinics. Masks have been proven to reduce the spread of germs, including the spread of COVID-19. You can prevent the spread of viruses from person to person by covering your face. Keep yourself and neighbor safe by wearing your mask!

4. Hand sanitizer and hand washing stations available throughout clinics

Washing and sanitizing your hands plays a big part in stopping the spread of germs. Staff are required to wash their hands frequently throughout the day, and patients are prompted to sanitize their hands upon entry and throughout their session. Wash your hands often and avoid touching your face. The Ochsner team will give you plenty of opportunities to wash or sanitize your hands. You can protect yourself and others by cleaning your hands.

5. Extra staff and efforts in the sanitation of all spaces

Ochsner Health is keeping our spaces extra clean for staff and patients. Sanitizing all areas is a top priority to eliminate surface germs of COVID-19. We have dedicated extra staff to cleaning our clinic spaces often, which protects everyone in our facilities. Our fantastic environmental services staff and therapy team members work together to protect everyone by keeping our spaces clean.

6. Mobile check-in and car waiting available to prevent exposure

Digital innovation is just one way Ochsner Health puts patients first. You can stay in your car and use the myOchsner app to check-in to your appointment. The app will let you know when the therapist is ready for your appointment. This means you do not have to spend time around others in the waiting rooms.

7. Virtual appointments available

If your condition does not require in-person therapy, you have the option of utilizing Ochsner’s virtual visits. With all the benefits of a face-to-face therapy session, a virtual visit is a fantastic option for patients who do not require hands-on treatment. Consider how convenient and safe a therapy session would be from the comfort of your own home. Talk with your therapist to work out solutions that are best for you.

Are you ready to get back to your physical, occupational or speech therapy? Our therapy team is excited to help you get back to your routine. Together, we will make sure you continue to heal and improve your health while staying safe. Continue with your sessions or set up a new appointment with your therapists today!
