Lead Medical Technologist of Molecular Microbiology
From a very young age, Luke Caruso knew he wanted to be in medicine. He excelled in sciences in high school and took that to the bottom of the boot to Nicholls State University. There he studied both science and social science, earning degrees with biology with a chemistry minor and sociology with a psychology minor. Not wanting to limit his options to just research roles or more schooling, he took a job in the clinical lab at Ochsner Medical Center – New Orleans as a specimen processing specialist. Here, he was introduced to medical laboratory scientists and technicians – the scientists behind the medicine – and he was hooked. He returned to school to complete an accelerated Clinical Laboratory Science program at LSU Health Science’s Center New Orleans, and now serves as the Lead Medical Technologist of Molecular Microbiology at Ochsner’s flagship facility. Luke lives in Harahan with his wife Tori.
