What are the Symptoms of Seasonal Allergies?

Aug 5, 2022
Share Facebook Logo Twitter Logo Pinterest Logo Email Logo

Seasonal allergies are common in the United States. At least 10%-30% of people suffer from allergies, including men, women and children. While allergies typically begin in childhood, people can develop allergies as adults.

Common causes of seasonal allergies tend to be triggered by weather changes when plants begin to pollinate. Some people may have issues only in the spring (trees and grass), while others have problems in the fall (weed pollen allergies). Unfortunately, some may suffer from seasonal allergies in both seasons. Symptoms of seasonal allergies include:

  • Watery runny nose
  • Watery eyes
  • Nasal congestion
  • Post-nasal drip or drainage
  • Itchy ears
  • Ears feeling clogged
  • Itchy nose
  • Itchy throat
  • The roof of the mouth itches
  • Coughing
  • Dark circles under the eyes due to nasal congestion
  • Crease on the nose (known as the allergic salute or nasal salute)
  • Pressure around the eyes, cheek and forehead
