Top 3 Healthiest Breakfast Cereals

Cereal is one of my least favorite options for breakfast. Most cereals that you’ll find on supermarket shelves are typically high in carbs and low in protein and fiber. However, there are a few protein- and fiber-rich options out there that taste good, too. Check out my top three picks for healthy breakfast cereal below. (You can use the store locator on the product websites to find where to buy them in your region.)

ProGranola by Julian Bakery

  • Per ½ cup: 97 calories, 14 grams carbohydrates (2 net carbs), 12 grams fiber, 0 grams sugar, 12 grams protein
  • Ingredients include egg white powder, prebiotic fiber, pumpkin seeds, chia seeds, flax seeds and sesame seeds
  • Sweetened with monk fruit

Kay’s Naturals Cereal (in Apple Cinnamon, Honey Almond, or French Vanilla)

  • Per serving: 120 calories, 18 grams carbohydrates (8 net carbs), 4 grams fiber, 3 grams sugar, 12 grams protein
  • Ingredients include non-GMO soy protein isolate and pea fiber
  • Sweetened with stevia
  • Added bonus: It’s available in single-serving packs

Catalina Crunch Keto Friendly Cereal

  • Per ½ cup: 90 calories, 12 grams carbohydrates (5 net carbs), 7 grams fiber, 0 grams sugar, 8 grams protein
  • Ingredients include organic pea protein, various fibers, sunflower oil and avocado oil
  • Sweetened with monk fruit

Editor’s note: Registered dietitian Molly Kimball offers brand-name products as a consumer guide; she does not solicit product samples nor is she paid to recommend items. This originally appeared on WGNO’s “Get the Skinny” segment.
