Craft Stick American Flag

Supplies:

  • Jumbo Popsicle Sticks {Body of the flag}
  • Wavy Paddle Fan Sticks {Flag Pole}
  • Glue
  • Red/White Paint
  • Paint Brushes
  • Scissors
  • Dark Blue Cardstock

Directions:

  1. First assemble the base of your flag by gluing six popsicle sticks in a straight line, on a wavy paddle fan stick {see above picture for example} Set aside to let it dry completely. Repeat for each flag.
  2. Next have your child paint the “stripes” of the popsicle stick flag, alternating between red and white.
  3. Now grab your dark blue cardstock and cut out a rectangle. Have children paint some “stars” on it {we just did some simple dots}
  4. To finish off the Popsicle Stick Flags craft, have children glue the rectangular cardstock piece in the top left corner. Then display proudly or use a photography prop!!

Patriotic Handprint Shirt

Supplies:

  • White Shirt {Walmart has them for $3-5}
  • Fabric Paint {Blue & Red}
  • Paint Brushes
  • Cardboard or Paper Plate
  • Cute kid with hands
  • Baby Wipes

Directions:

  1. Place a paper plate {or piece of cardboard} inside your tshirt. This is so the paint won’t bleed to the other side.
  2. Decide where the handprint will go. [Practice with your child} Paint some blue paint on your child’s hand and have them immediately press it on the shirt. Using a small paintbrush, do some touchups if need be.
  3. Using the red paint – make strips next to the blue handprint. If desired, paint a red heart inside the blue handprint.
  4. Let paint dry completely being wearing or washing.
  5. Be sure to follow washing directions on back of fabric paint container. For good measure, wash the shirt inside out.
