Ochsner Fitness Center Multi-Million-Dollar Renovation

Pinterest Logo

Whether you like to visit the gym in person or virtually, Ochsner Fitness Center members will be able to continue their fitness journeys utilizing the best fitness equipment available.

The first phase of the Ochsner Fitness Center's multi-million-dollar renovation was completed on Monday, June 1. The completely renovated 6,000-square foot area has more than 100 new cardio machines that overlook the strength floor, which will be completed in the second phase of renovation. The space is complete with overhead windows that bring natural light to the resurfaced indoor track and cardio space

The cardio equipment also allows members to access their Netflix, Hulu or favorite Spotify playlists while working out. The touch screens can pull up invigorating interval workouts, virtual paths to run on and suggested playlists that use music to motivate motion.

In addition to the high-tech equipment, the cardio floor contains a cardio and strength hub with self-propelled treadmills, fit benches, battle ropes, dumbbells, kettlebells and rowers. These are great for keeping heart rates high while adding lean muscle mass with the weights. Members can also enjoy custom-built cubbies to hold personal items and a new water and sanitation station to refresh and regroup before and after workouts.

The next step in Ochsner Fitness Center’s transformation will be the weight floor and spin studio renovation. The weight floor will include new strength equipment and a walkway to the outdoor pools, café and Kidsports building. The spin studio will have a theater, bikes in a tiered formation and an instructor's stage. There will also be software that will project leaderboards, heart rates and guided virtual rides on big screens next to the instructor.

Ochsner Fitness Center also launched the FITT Lab app during the COVID-19 closure to add a virtual space to your workout options. FITT Lab Powered by Ochsner is available in the Apple and Google app stores now. The app features On-Demand and live streaming fitness classes like yoga, aerobics and strength workouts.

Due to social distancing measures, members can book group exercise classes, lap swimming lanes, or reserve time slots to work out in the facilities through the app. We also require everyone to wear a mask! The app also features food and exercise logs, group exercise and swim-lane schedules as well as the ability to check into our gyms using your mobile device.
