A Day in the Life of Head and Neck Surgical Oncologist, Brian Moore, MD

Pinterest Logo

Brian Moore, MD, is a head and neck surgical oncologist, and he is also the director of the Ochsner Cancer Institute. Dr. Moore oversaw the expansion of the Gayle and Tom Benson Cancer Center and says the new facility allows Ochsner to not only focus on the treatment of cancer patients but also the recovery and rehabilitation that come afterward.

While caring for patients with cancer can be difficult, Dr. Moore says he became an oncologist because of the long-term relationships he builds with each of his patients. The COVID-19 pandemic has undoubtedly added a layer of difficulty to cancer care, but Dr. Moore says it is because of Ochsner’s use of telemedicine that he can continue building relationships with his patients from the comfort of their homes.

This new building adds 115,000 square feet over six floors, but the expansion offers more than just extra space. It reinforces Ochsner’s commitment to collaborative, patient-centered care using the latest technology, innovative treatments and a compassionate, holistic approach.
