Jason M. Jordan, MD

Psychiatry, clinical assistant professor

Dr. Jason Jordan is clinical assistant professor at LSU Health Shreveport and is board certified in general psychiatry. He completed medical school and psychiatry residency at LSU Health Shreveport and served as chief resident of education. Originally from southern California, Dr. Jordan attended the U.S. Air Force Academy before embarking upon a variety of careers, which included volunteer firefighter, substitute teacher, computer programmer, network security technician, and owning and operating his own recording label. He ultimately found his calling in medicine and teaching as he obtained a degree in molecular and cellular biology from LSU Shreveport.

As director of the psychiatry clerkship, Dr. Jordan is responsible for assisting with overseeing the education of medical students, medical student research projects, organizing the clinical rotations and teaching and testing schedules, and serves on various committees. As director of the psychiatry consultation and Liaison Psychiatry Service, Dr. Jordan is responsible for the management and oversight of consulted inpatients at the Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport Academic Medical Center and St. Mary Medical Center.

Dr. Jordan was previously a staff psychiatrist for the Overton Brooks VA Medical Center, where he treated veterans in the outpatient Behavioral Health Integrated Program and served as the psychiatrist for the Adult Inpatient Psychiatric Unit.
