Shannon Seals, MD
Neurology
Since a young age, I was determined to become a provider and advocate for patients with neurological diseases, specifically those with autoimmune conditions such as multiple sclerosis. To that end, I have dedicated my life to learning more about the nervous system, starting in undergraduate school at Xavier University of Louisiana and culminating in a multiple sclerosis and neuroimmunology fellowship at Oregon Health & Science University. My practice is currently devoted to patients with multiple sclerosis and other autoimmune conditions only given the growing need for such providers in the area.
I approach patient care using a comprehensive multidisciplinary approach because the patient-doctor relationship is only a piece of the puzzle. Healing and symptom management should also focus on patient education; collaboration with other specialty providers; participation in physical, speech, and occupational therapy; and support from psychologists when needed, and making sure that patients feel understood.
