Dr. Paul Celestre practices orthopedic surgery at Ochsner Health in New Orleans. Dr. Celestre received his undergraduate degree in Chemistry at the University of California, Los Angeles where he researched nanotechnology in the lab of Nobel Prize Laureate Dr. J. Fraser Stoddart. He then went on to Medical School at the University of California, San Diego. He completed his internship at the University of California, Los Angeles: Department of General Surgery and his residency in Orthopedic surgery at University of California, Los Angeles. Dr. Celestre completed his fellowship training in Spine Surgery at the Norton Leatherman Spine Center, Louisville, Kentucky. He has been in practice at the Ochsner Medical Center since January 2015. Dr Celestres clinical interests include Adult and Pediatric Spinal Deformity, Metastatic and Primary Spinal Tumors, Spinal Infections, Trauma, Revision Spine Surgery and Degenerative Conditions including Cervical Myelopathy, Lumbar Stenosis, Degenerative Spondylolisthesis, Cervical Artificial Disc Replacement and Laminoplasty. He regularly collaborates with multiple subspecialties including neurosurgery, otolaryngology (ENT), vascular surgery and pediatric surgery to treat complex spinal conditions. Dr. Celestre encourages the transfer of complex patients at Ochsner for a higher level of care. This can be facilitated by the Ochsner Regional Referral Center (504) 842-8302. Dr Celestre is very involved in resident and medical student education at Ochsner. He is the Orthopaedic Surgery Residency program director as is vice-chair of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. He is a Senior Lecturer of Orthopedics at the University of Queensland Medical School - Ochsner Health. Dr. Celestre is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American Orthopaedic Association, and the Scoliosis Research Society. He currently serves as Chair of the SRS Awards and Scholarships Committee. Dr. Celestres wife Miranda is also a surgeon at Ochsner Health in New Orleans. His hobbies include fishing the waters of southeast Louisiana and Mississippi as well as cooking.
