Dr. Olabode Agaja is a pediatric sports medicine physician at the Ochsner Andrews Sports Medicine Institute. He is the head team physician at Dillard University and Southern University of New Orleans. He also provides medical coverage internationally for USA Water Polo, ringside for USA Amateur boxing and multiple high school sports in the New Orleans area. He is the medical director for the HBCU All-Stars basketball team which is presented by CBS Sports each year during Final Four weekend. Additionally, he serves as senior lecturer at University of Queensland teaching medical students in the clinical setting. Furthermore, he serves as medical director of Pediatric Special Olympics for the State of Louisiana and global faculty advisor for Special Olympics Healthy Athletes. Dr. Agaja graduated Cum Laude from University of Charleston in Charleston, West Virginia, where he was a four-year scholarship athlete as a defensive back for the football team. He received his medical degree from the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his pediatric residency at Authority Health in Detroit. He completed his sports medicine fellowship at VCOM/Virginia Tech. Dr. Agaja has a focus on pediatric sports medicine but has the training and skillset to care for patients and athletes of all ages. He is an active member of Ochsners Concussion Management Program. He is skilled in osteopathic manipulative sports medicine, a holistic approach that uses hands-on techniques to help diagnose, treat, and prevent injuries, especially those that are mechanically related. He is also trained in diagnostic ultrasound and well versed in ultrasound-guided injections, including orthobiologic procedures such as platelet-rich plasma (PRP). His favorite sports medicine moment includes providing medical coverage as lead team physician for the Junior Olympics Water Polo team internationally at the world championships in which they made history and placed 3rd on the podium!
