Christopher Mercadel, PA-C, is a physician assistant at the Ochsner Andrews Sports Medicine Institute. He joined the Ochsner Andrews Sports Medicine Institute in 2017, and has worked at Ochsner since 2002. He assists Deryk Jones, MD, in the operating room, and participates with high school and college event coverage across the Greater New Orleans area. His specialties include evaluating and treating exercise and weight training related injuries and injection therapy. Chris is a native of New Orleans. He earned both his Bachelor of Science in human performance and health promotion and his Master of Science in healthcare management at the University of New Orleans. He earned his earned his Master of Physician Assistant Studies at Louisiana State University Health Science Center in New Orleans. Chris first joined Ochsner Health in 2002 as a strength coach, personal trainer and a program coordinator where he accumulated more than 15 years working with athletes. Chris is an American College of Sports Medicine Certified Exercise Physiologist and USA Weightlifting Level 1 Coach. He is also board certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners. He is a member of American Academy of Physician Assistants and Louisiana Academy of Physician Assistants.
