Dr. Amer Awad is a neurologist with Ochsner Health in Baton Rouge. He received his medical degree from the University of Jordan in 2002. He went on to complete a neurology residency at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. He completed his fellowship in clinical neurophysiology (epilepsy) at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. Dr. Awad is board-certified in neurology and clinical neurophysiology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and has been on staff at Ochsner since 2018. He has practiced neurology since 2010 and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Neurology. Dr. Awad provides thorough and high-quality care to patients and enjoys treating all neurological disorders. He performs electroencephalography (a test that measures electrical activity in the brain), electromyography (a diagnostic procedure to assess the health of muscles and the nerve cells that control them), and Botox and has a special clinical interest in epilepsy. Outside of work, Dr. Awad enjoys family activities, traveling, reading and hiking.
