
Amanda Callegan-Poche, MD
Internal Medicine and Pediatrics
Dr. Amanda Callegan-Poche’ joined the Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport faculty in 2019. She is an assistant professor of Internal Medicine-Pediatrics and the associate program director of the Internal Medicine-Pediatrics residency program. She is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. Dr. Callegan-Poche’ was born and raised in Plaquemine, Louisiana and proudly calls herself a Cajun.
She graduated salutatorian from St. John High School in 2007. She attended college at LSU in Baton Rouge, LA, Geaux Tigers! She graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in biology and honors distinction in 2011. She attended medical school at LSU Health Shreveport and graduated in 2015. She completed a combined Internal Medicine-Pediatrics residency at LSU Health Shreveport. During her residency, she received the Continuity Clinic Excellence Award, served as the chief resident during her fourth year of residency, and was elected to the medical honor society, AOA.
After completing her residency, she accepted a position with the Department of Medicine, Division of Internal Medicine-Pediatrics at Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport. Throughout her career, Dr. Callegan-Poche’ has been passionate about teaching our future physicians. She serves as a supervising attending in the Internal Medicine resident clinics and Internal Medicine-Pediatrics resident clinic. She is also involved in medical student education through lecturing, mentoring, and serving as a small group leader.
She sees patients at the Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport Provenance Primary Care Clinic at least 3 days per week. Other than medical education, her professional interests include LGBTQ+ care, adolescent medicine, and resident wellness. When she is not working, she is spending time with her 2 sons, husband, and 2 dogs.
