Every March, medical students across the nation celebrate the next phase in their journey to become physicians when they receive their results from the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP). This includes students with the Ochsner Clinical School in New Orleans where 51 of the 55 students who entered the Match received residency spots for a 93% Match rate.
The Ochsner graduates will soon be at hospitals across the country, including Rutgers, Boston University, Case Western Reserve, Cleveland Clinic, University of South Carolina, University of Connecticut and University of Alabama Birmingham. In New Orleans, ten graduates are returning to Ochsner for residencies in Internal Medicine, Ob/Gyn, Anesthesiology, Urology, Orthopedics and Ophthalmology.
“We’re very proud to see our students embarking on residencies at prestigious institutions across the country, including right here at Ochsner,” said Dr. William Pinsky, Executive Vice President and Chief Academic Officer, Ochsner Health System, and Head, Ochsner Clinical School. “Our program offers a unique, global medical school experience and our continued success in Match Day reinforces the cutting edge education these future doctors are receiving.”
The students graduated in December 2015 and will begin their residencies in July 2016.
